Mask Making Workshops

Tucson Puppet Works hosts FREE weekly workshops on Mask and Puppet-Making in preparation for the Parade. Participants are welcome to make a mask, big-head puppet, or human-powered float. No experience is required. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Kids 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Procession of Little Angels

Little Angels is a family-friendly event acknowledging and celebrating deceased loved ones from the perspective of the child. Children participate in art activities such as wing-making and decorating, face painting, sugar skull decorating, story telling, and theater. The public is invited to bring photos and drawings of their children’s deceased loved ones: pets, family and friends. We will scan them on site and project them large on the library wall. Bring a candle in a container to illuminate the children’s procession as the sun sets.

Carnaval de Tucson

February 21 the second annual Tucson Carnaval celebration will be held in Downtown Tucson’s Armory Park, 220 S. 5th Avenue, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The event will feature a parade at noon and live entertainment, crafts, local food vendors, and family-friendly events in the park and at the Tucson Children’s Museum. Admission to all events and to the Museum will be free.

Due to the increasing size of the Procession, a working relationship between TPD and MMOS was established in 2006.
